ABC's for Guiding Young Children into Making/Writing a Dance
"Making" a dance is much like writing a composition: you first find something to say, then say it as well as you can. Three basic essentials for dance-making and writing are intention, motivation, and clarity. Procedures for developing dance compositions are similar to writing. There are a variety of techniques for developing a motif (intention) into a composition or dance. Once the motif (intention) is selected, it is then approached with clarity and simplicity. Guiding children into dance- making and writing can be as easy as ABC. The audience will be provided an opportunity to participate in a process that will bring an inner attitude and commitment to create, mold and give form to a dance and/or a composition.
