Teaching Adventure Skills in the Gym
A one-day workshop designed to teach participants to perform and teach basic adventure skills with an emphasis on safety. This includes: · Adventure without ropes activities. · Climbing skills on gym ropes with Prusik slings. · Belaying techniques and their application. · Climbing wall skills. · Traversing skills. · Rope swinging activities. · Skills on innovative equipment. This session offers you an opportunity to examine a variety of equipment for teaching adventure in the gym. Curriculum materials for use in conducting programs will be distributed. Certificate of completion and CEUs offered. Fee: $35/$45 on-site. Fee does not include public transporation to Thomas Middle School, Philadelphia, PA. **Participants meet in the Convention Center in front of the registration area at 8:30am.
