Integrative Health: A Program of Study in Health Education
The University of Utah has recently approved an emphasis area of study entitled Integrative Health. Integrative health is a post-modern concept that melds innovations in physics, psychology, sociology, Eastern medicine, theology, philosophy, medicine, education, and other disciplines to create powerful health information delivery, behavioral management, and life enrichment interventions with varied populations. The purpose of this program is to 1) justify integrative health as a valid program of study including philosophical and multidisciplinary foundations, 2) describe the unique nature and recruitment of students, 4) clarify progressive educational and experiential concepts with practical applications, and 5) discuss research implications.
