Revisiting the Limited Duty Rule for Facility Owners and Operators: Does the Puck Stop Here?
Due to recent incidents, the role of facility owners and operators in providing protective seating for spectators is being reexamined. One hockey spectator was killed and pucks flying into the stands have injured several. Several baseball spectators have been hit by foul balls. Are enough protected seats being provided? Are sufficient measures being utilized to protect spectators in those areas? This session will analyze the limited duty rule as it pertains to protecting spectators. You will be offered suggestions as to how risk management practices of facility owners and operators may need to change.
