Leadership can be defined as "the art and science of influencing others through credibility, compatibility, and commitment" (Murray & Mann, 2001). This session presents the application of a variety of leadership theories in the real world settings of sport managers and coaches. While this session is grounded in the theories of Mcgregor, McClellan, Chelladurai, Herzberg, Maslow, Vroom, Hersey & Blanchard, Bass, Fiedler, Gardner, Drucker, and others, it focuses on the impact of specific leadership strategies in the areas of self-improvement, modeling, utilizing power, communicating, organizing, and many others.
