Exposing the Exercise Core- Focusing on Strength, Balance and Flexibility
This presentation will take a holistic approach to core training, which involves integrating and coordinating stability and mobility of the body. Core training emphasizes conditioning of the musculature of the spine, pelvis, shoulder and abdominal region, which results in efficient functional movement, improvement of posture and prevention of injuries. Benefits of core training and appropriate exercise progressions will be discussed. The format will include lecture and participation in a variety of core training exercises and modalities. Equipment will be presented that could easily be utilized in a physical education class and health/fitness setting.
