Plug It In: 7 Movement Methods for Integration into the Academic Curriculum
Dance specialists bring to education a unique approach to learning that can be applied across the curriculum. As dance and physical educators we teach using a kinesthetic approach. However, this approach is rarely used outside the gymnasium or studio. This participatory workshop will discuss the kinesthetic learner, explore seven movement methods that can be integrated into the curriculum to reinforce academic concepts, and highlight the role of the movement educator as a resource. Examples of subject areas to be covered in workshop include math, spelling, grammar, literature, history, geometry, and geography.
