What Does a Culturally Relevant Pedagogy Mean for Physical Education?
This presentation will review the work on "culturally relevant pedagogy" by Gloria Ladson-Billings in relation to the field of physical education. Work by experts in the physical education field as they relate will be compared and contrasted to this general education theorist. Implications of a "culturally relevant pedagogy" for the physical education learning environment will be presented. Issues of physical ability as part of a student's culture and related issues of power will be discussed.
