Health and Diversity Challenges for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs)
AAPIs are the fastest growing racila/ethnic population in the US. AAPI's diverse makeup consist of more than 50 nationalities and over 100 lanaguages and dialects. This session gives the audience an overview of the health challenges that AAPIs face viz access to health care, health competencies, community services, and women health issues. Specifically, this session will illustrate the health beliefs of Chinese Asians and the barriers that these beliefs may pose to Western health promotion practices.
