| Description | Purpose: Determine the effectiveness of a community-based intervention to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors related to alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use in five neighborhoods in Salt Lake County. The interventions by the Neighborhood Action Coalition utilized a modified version of the Communities That Care model. Results: Respondents of neighborhood pre-intervention surveys reported that illegal drugs and alcohol were easily available and frequently used. These respondents were interested in becoming more involved with promoting community health. Discussion: After community interventions, neighborhoods showed a decrease in risk factors and an increase in protective factors related to ATOD use. | |
