Environmental Issues in Health and Health Education
StructureAmerican Association for Health Education
DescriptionThe role health educators might play in the emerging national focus on Environmental Health has resulted in a great deal of confusion about content and role. Much attention has been paid to lifestyle, genetics, and the health care system as principal factors in wellness and primary prevention programs. However, confusion is apparent when the environmental factors come into discussion. Health Educators confuse environmental science with environmental health, limiting undergraduate training. Focus will be on clarifying environmental health as it relates to the top fifteen killers in the U.S. and including a broad-based undergraduate course proposal will be presented and discussed.
