| Community Based Fitness For Individuals with Physical Disabilities | ||

Aufsesser1, Samuel Britten2 and John Downing1, (1)San Diego State University, San Diego, CA, (2)California State University, Northridge, Northridge, CA This off site presentation will be of two of the longest operating fitness programs for individuals with physical and neuromuscular disabilities in the United States. The Center of Achievement for the Physically Disabled and the Fitness Clinic for Individuals with Disabilities will present an overview of their programs and the rudiments of how to establish a program in a community setting. The programs have been in operation a combined 51 years serving individuals age 10-89 with a variety of conditions including: Stroke, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, Lou Gehgri's Disease ( ALS)and Parkinson's Disease. | ||
