Factors that Improve Aquatic Instructors' Beliefs Toward Inclusion

This study examined the influence of moderator variables' on aquatic instructors' beliefs toward teaching swimming to individuals with disabilities in an inclusive setting. Two hundred aquatic instructors from 47 states representing 204 U.S. cities participated in this study. Based on the theory of planned behavior (Ajzen, 1985, 1988), aquatic instructors' beliefs (attitudes, social pressure, control beliefs) toward inclusion were investigated. Further, aquatic instructors responded to open-ended questions asking for information on training, equipment, and classroom management strategies that would help promote inclusion.
