Using Imagery To Enhance Alignment In Dancers and Athletes
Dancers have the potential for outstanding achievements in movement but many are limited by faulty alignment causing inefficient or restricted movement and even injury . This presentation will explore a number of techniques for facilitating proper alignment--including guided imagery and ideokinesis--for increased range of motion, relaxation, and correcting muscular imbalances and misalignment.. Participants should dress in non-restrictive clothing as this will be a participation session to experience firsthand the concepts and approaches that can enhance the quality of training and performance. • Objective * Audience will practice specific exercises that use imagery to "change" (i.e. improve) the alignment of the body.
