Multicultural Dance: A Passport to the World
Folk dance, defined as "a traditional dance of the people" has long been a part of the well-rounded physical education program. With the current emphasis on multicultural and thematic education, dance is a great way to introduce students to cultural diversity. This session will introduce participants to nontraditional folkdances from such places as Spain, Africa, Romania, Israel, and Serbia. In addition, participants will be introduced to ways to integrate other subject areas, involving both the school and the community. Grant writing for dance education will also be addressed.
