The New/Old Addiction Dilemma: Primary Prevention for Gambling Problems
Sensitizing students and parents about compuslive gambling behaviors can be a difficult task. With various "Gateway" gambling behaviors becoming a larger part of our accepted social norms, early educational efforts in this area are often down played in their level of importance. However, adolescent gambling behavior is rapidly becoming an "at-risk" health behavior that is putting many in early financial and psychological difficulty. This workshop will address the growing adolescent gambling problem, present the latest statistics, and will outline and demonstrate prevention techniques which can be duplicated in the classroom.
