GirlForce is an outreach and prevention program for adolescent girls, ages 9-14, which promotes physical fitness, healthy eating habits, self-esteem and abstinence from smoking. The goal of the program is to prevent the leading causes of chronic disease and preventable death in women. The program incorporates a workshop focused on vigorous physical exercise, interactive discussion on media and body image, smoking facts and refusal skills, interactive discussions on healthy eating patterns, mentoring, social service, medical, and fitness resources for parents. This session will focus on program delivery, a sample participation session, and a program outcome report for 900 girls.
