Developing a Winning Attitude and Desire in your Athletes: The Power 4 W System
This workshop is designed to teach coaches the “Power 4 W” system for developing hope, desire, and determination in their athletes. The Power 4 system emphasizes the role of sport psychology in enhancing performance. The system is made up of four parts: 1. Wishes: Getting your athletes to wish; 2. Wants: Long and short-term goals that lead to dreams; 3. Ways: Pathways and strategies that lead to the goal achievement; and 4. Will Power: The ability to deal with obstacles that arise and having the “stick-to-it-ness” to achieve one’s goals. Participants will learn sport psychology applications of the Power 4 W system to enhance their athletes’ and team’s performances.
