Why You Need to Learn to Do a Wheelie! |
Thirty years ago it was not important for a physical educator or a recreation specialist to know how to use a wheelchair, because there were few students with physical disabilities in the classrooms or in recreational settings. Due to current laws and a climate of inclusion, our professional challenges have changed. Attendees in this session will learn that the wheelie is a basic skill, necessary to progress to other skills; will learn why professional preparation programs should teach wheelchair skills to able bodied individuals; and will earn how to do a wheelie. |
