NAGWS General Session
Come and join your colleagues in Passing the Baton and Leaving a Legacy! Dr.Linda J. Carpenter will be honored as the 2001 Rachel Bryant Award recipient and the NAGWS General Session keynote speaker. Carpenter will anchor this awards program, recognizing NAGWS' recipients for the Honor Awards, Nell Jackson Awards, Pathfinder Awards, and Presidential Awards along with the most recent NAGWS JOPERD Feature Editor. Carpenter is Professor Emerita in the Brooklyn College Department of Physical Education and Exercise Science. She is also a member of the New York State and United States Supreme Court Bars.
A prolific writer and speaker Carpenter has written numerous publications to include Legal Concepts in Sport, Title IX Toolbox, Volume I and II, and Gymnastics for Girls and Women. Recent presentations include Legal Issues in Public School Settings, Law and Athletic Administration, and the Historical Impact of Title IX. Best known for her work in the area of gender equity, Carpenter's research has been cited and featured in selected U.S. Senate and Congressional hearings, national television and radio broadcasts including CNN, PBS, and the ABC Evening News, and in the U.S. Department of Justice studies and policy discussions.
