Winning at All Cost: Feminist Perspective of 1st and 2nd Place
From images of Rocky standing bloodied and triumphant to Kerri Strug nailing her vault with an injured leg, sacrifices made by champions are glorified in both the movies and the media. This program will analyze the value and cost of being a champion and the role of 2nd place in our society. How these roles have changed for women in sport will be emphasized.
