Simplicity in Coaching: Ideas from Thoreau |
Simplicity, as outlined by Thoreau, holds great promise for coaching and the institution of sport. Coaches have the tendency to become consumed by a quest for more, strained by responsibilities, and hindered by distractions. Through simplicity, coaches can focus on the essentials of sport – their athletes and their sport. The goals for this session are to: 1) discuss common ways coaches experience complexity in their profession; 2) explore methods by which coaches can change their approach toward sport; and 3) explore methods to change sport itself. |
Keyword(s): athletics/sports, coaching
