Girls First
The mission of Girls First is to provide systematic, age-appropriate sport, movement, and exercise opportunities free of charge to under-served adolescent females. Current research findings indicate that girls who participate in sport are less likely to become involved with drugs, less likely to become pregnant before they want to, exhibit better overall health, have greater self- esteem, and are more likely to graduate from high school than those who are not active. Additionally, in New Orleans, boys are provided four times as many opportunities to experience and develop their sport skills as girls.
