“…Be Brave in the Attempt.” Service Learning Through Special Olympics |
Service learning is a current buzzword among Sport Management academicians. Student management of a Special Olympic event is a unique opportunity for this pedagogical technique. The size and scope of the event depends on the abilities of the students and the needs of the Special Olympic Organization. These events offer students opportunities for career preparation, awareness of community needs and the connection of Sport Management theory to practice. This presentation will discuss the development, administration and evaluation of this type of service learning and methods to incorporate it into the educational process. |
