Hazing Part 1 and 2 |
This session will be a two-part program. Part one will be an interactive program providing the audience with the current affairs of hazing activities as reported in newsprint, electronic media, and research in interscholastic sport. A brief look at victims redressing the courts for compensation of injury and criminal activity will be presented. Small group activities will allow participants to formulate potential courses of action to fortify the ideals of athletic participation. The second part will look at hazing from an administrative perspective and discuss the development of a policy for preventing and dealing with such incidents. Some say that hazing is an essential part of the sport experience and feel that it’s an important aspect of team building and developing loyalty. Where does hazing cross the line and become a tortuous or even criminal offense? |
