“Bigorexia,” Muscle “Dysmorphia,” Exercise Obsession: Update on Eating Disorders
Dieting and preoccupation with weight and body image that accompanies it has become an obsession among all ages in the United States. It is at this point of obsession when this behavior is classified as an eating disorder. Eating disorders in the past have included a discussion of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and obesity. This presentation will address the new disordered eating and fitness behaviors, “bigorexia,” or muscle “dysmorphia,“ which often occur in men.
