Service-Learning in Motor Development: Perspectives from Across the Lifespan
Service-learning has received significant attention on high school and university campuses. Service-learning courses are those in which students engage in community projects or services which are linked to the learning outcomes of academic courses. Research has shown that students who engage in service-learning courses often achieve greater educational outcomes in additional to meaningful professional experiences. The purpose of this half-day workshop is to share the development and implementation of successful service-learning programs in motor development, pedagogy and sport psychology. These experiences represent the lifespan perspective with programs developed for infant through senior populations. Presenters and participants will interact and share lessons learned from these programs.
