The Lolas E. Halverson Memorial Lecture and Young Investigator Award Presentation
Rosa Angulo-Kinzler, the 2000 Halverson Young Investigator award honoree, will present her research on limb movements in infancy. This work will illustrate how the organization and control of limb movements in infants depends mainly on the exploratory and selective processes that underlie action learning. Infants at a very young age are capable of modulating their limb movements depending on the task demands. Dr. Angulo-Kinzler will present the capabilities of 3-month-old infants to change their limb relationship to stepping and walking will also be examined. Potential applications to future intervention will be presented. The 2001 Lolas E. Halverson Young Investigator Award recipient will be presented at the end of this session.
