A Contextual View of Motor Development: Assessing The Home Environment |
A contemporary view of motor development considers environmental influences as critical factors in optimal growth and behavior. New findings suggest that “optimal level of development occurs only with strong contextual support”. The intent of this presentation is to briefly describe the concept and need for a contextual view of motor development, and to share with the audience an idea for observing and assessing the quality and quantity of motor development affordances in the home for children birth through 36 months. |
