Teaching the New PE on a Block Schedule
Partcipants will take part in a simulated class for a block format conducted by six nationally recognized physical education teachers from West Virginia. Lead speaker Bane McCracken will explain procedure and conduct a “brain compatible” opening and warm-up. Other speakers will act as team leaders and demonstrate the use of learning stations that will include: fitness, cross curriculum activities, video review and self assessment techniques, skill recognition, lifetime skills and critical thinking. Closing techniques will include: warm down, flexibility, closure and review. The session will conclude with a discussion of a block format and the lifetime/fitness approach to physical education.
