Developing Socially Responsible Behavior in the Gymnasium |
The lack of civility in our society is growing. Such behavior often leads to confrontations and violence. The sports audience model often seen on television, tends to reinforce this concept. Through a host of other physical activities, we can teach children and youth both the skills and values of socially responsible behavior. These include self-control; fairness; acceptance of others; cooperation; sharing; mutual support; honesty; and accepting consequences. The purpose of this program is to share both the theoretical concepts and practical activities that have been used to work towards achieving the goal of productive and positive socially responsible behavior. |
