Tinikling: Filipino Folk Dance to American Fitness Activity
A multi-cultural dance/fitness activity that promotes fitness by developing coordination, learning rhythm patterns, and improving aerobic endurance. Tinikling, a “can-do” activity that is great for individual skill development, social and group interaction, improving interpersonal qualities and providing leadership development! Participants will actively experience Tinikling from traditional (native Filipino dance where bamboo poles beat a rhythm while dancers move through the poles), to modern American Tinikling, expanding motor skills and rhythms. Skill development begins with lummi sticks and progresses to complex pole settings allowing fancy footwork, tumbling, and advanced rhythms for all age groups!
