Developing and Implementing Transition Programs for Students with Disabilities
Public Law 105-17 (IDEA) requires that transition services are provided for students with disabilities by the age of 14 years and onward, including services for physical education. The purpose of this program is to provide essential information to physical educators developing programs for high school students. Transition as it relates to legislation and individualized education plans will be discussed, competencies needed by teachers will be highlighted, and a review of the development and outcome of current transition programs will be given.
