A heavy illustrated presentation that will introduce the activity and science of caving. This session will begin by outlining equipment needs and protocols for participation. It will then move on to illustrate some of the numerous opportunities provided by the sport for lifetime, high adventure, vigorous, sustained physical activity, and involvement in scientific research. The session will demonstrate to participants that caves are the last place on earth where it is possible for the average person to go, in the words of the Star Trek television show, where no one has gone before.
