Effective Mentoring Programs: Violence Prevention for K-12/Increasing School Connectedness
This presentation will demonstrate how to develop, implement, and evaluate a program that teacher conflict resolution and nurtures shared community values for grades K-12. Practical steps essential to developing and implementing effective mentoring programs for youth will be offered. Part I will highlight The CARE program which utilizes an interdisciplinary approach and includes a mentoring program that can be used to build positive connections between the school and student to decrease negative health behaviors. The second part of the session will explore strategies used in the Healthy Kids – It’s My Time program, a school-community mentoring program for at-risk students.
