Elementary Teaching Strategies/Health Teacher and Elementary Classroom Teacher Partnership
This will be an interactive and hands-on workshop beginning with fun, interactive and creative strategies for teaching health education in grades 3-5. Topics will include nutrition, sexuality, drug education, hygiene and safety. These strategies were created as part of a unique program involving health specialists at the elementary level. The second part of the session will explore the role of health educators as partners with classroom teachers in supplementing the delivery of health education in grades K-6. Participants will be exposed to developmentally appropriate and multi-disciplinary activities for elementary grades and become sensitized to the teacher-related barriers to their implementation.
