Asset and Character Building Through Health/At-Risk Program for Adolescents
Part I of the session will focus on asset and character building in the health education curriculum as a means to increase academic learning time, improve academic achievement, and decrease discipline problems among K-12 students. Methods in health education that develop personal meaning and positive social skills will be presented. Part II will identify a student-centered approach for the development and implementation of a program for at-risk adolescents. Program components include: identifying at-risk students, developing needs assessment, setting program goals, identifying content and activities and assessing program success.
