Are We Playing With Other People’s Money? |
Modern public and private non-profit recreation agencies often charge fees for some or all of the programs they provide. While the very concept of charging fees was at one time thought to be against the mission of public and private non-profit agencies, it has become an acceptable and necessary practice in recent years. As with any management practice, problems have arisen and criticisms of the equity and appropriateness of recreation fees are commonplace. This session will familiarize recreation professionals with the issues that surround recreation fees, the relevant research, and strategies for ensuring fairness when developing fee schedules. |
